Setting your expectations
Rwanda and Uganda offer an incredibly rich wildlife experience, set against dramatically diverse landscapes ranging from dense jungles to sweeping savannahs. One of the highlights of this photo workshop is the Bwindi Impenetrable National Park—a name that alone sparks the adventurous spirit. Nestled on the edge of the Rift Valley, Bwindi is a breathtaking, mist-shrouded rainforest. As one of Africa’s oldest forests, it boasts incredible biodiversity, including over 120 mammal species and more than 350 bird species.
Bwindi’s most famous residents are its Mountain Gorillas—an estimated 350 live here, making it one of only three parks in Africa where these endangered primates can still be found. Photographing Mountain Gorillas is a truly awe-inspiring experience. While encounters in the wild can’t be scripted or guaranteed, you’re likely to find yourself remarkably close to these magnificent creatures. It’s humbling, exhilarating, and provides an unparalleled opportunity for wildlife photography. We've scheduled two days of gorilla trekking, ensuring ample time to capture these incredible moments.
In contrast to Bwindi’s dense jungles, Queen Elizabeth National Park offers vast savannahs, wetlands, and expansive lakes, all framed by shady forests. The park provides a dramatic backdrop for its abundant wildlife, including 95 mammal species, 20 predators, and an astonishing 600+ bird species, making it a birder’s dream destination. Here, you’ll have the chance to photograph four of the "Big Five": lions, leopards, buffalos, and elephants. And don’t forget to look up—famously, some lion prides in this park spend much of their time lounging in trees!
Throughout this photo workshop, SnapAdventures will offer expert photographic guidance. With our small group size, you’ll receive personalized attention tailored to your skill level, whether you're a beginner or an experienced photographer. Expect to sharpen your skills, broaden your understanding of wildlife photography, and return home with a collection of stunning images that capture the heart of Africa’s wild beauty.
